Timber Valley Pollinators | Discover Nature's Small Wonders
While creating our newest Discover page, I grabbed my camera and walked around Timber Valley Retreat to see what I could find. Within a few minutes, butterflies were visiting blooming flowers, native bees were gathering pollen from purple coneflowers, and pollinators were busy helping the landscape thrive. It was a wonderful reminder that some of the hardest-working residents at our Western Maryland Cabin Retreat are often the smallest ones.
Timber Valley Pollinators include butterflies, native bees, skippers, and many other beneficial insects that quietly support the wildflowers, gardens, and natural habitats surrounding our cabins. Their daily work helps create the colorful scenery our guests enjoy while exploring the property, relaxing outside, or photographing wildlife.
One of the reasons we enjoy seeing so many butterflies and native bees is because Timber Valley Retreat provides a variety of habitats where they can flourish. Butterfly bushes, colorful flowers, native plants, and acres of blooming alfalfa provide valuable food sources throughout the growing season.
Guests often notice deer, wild turkeys, and songbirds first, but pollinators quietly support the entire ecosystem. Every butterfly visiting a flower and every bee collecting pollen helps keep the landscape healthy and vibrant.
Many of the photographs in this article were taken during a simple walk around the property. I wasn't searching for anything rare. I simply slowed down, watched the flowers, and let nature reveal itself. That's one of the greatest rewards of spending time outdoors.
If you enjoy discovering the quieter side of nature, you'll find countless opportunities to appreciate Timber Valley Pollinators while exploring our peaceful Western Maryland Cabin Retreat.
