A Legacy of Flight

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum is dedicated to preserving over 100 years of regional aviation heritage. Over the past 29 years, what began as a concept has grown into the world's largest collection of historic Fairchild aircraft.

Visitors can marvel at over 25 aircraft, including:

  • 1919 Bellanca CE

  • 1928 Kreider-Reisner KR-31

  • 1942 Fairchild PT-26

  • 1953 Fairchild C-119G Flying Boxcar

  • 1959 Fairchild F-27 ...and many more!

Beyond the planes, the museum’s archive houses over ten thousand photographs and thousands of artifacts, models, and personal items, telling the human story of the engineers, assembly line workers, and WWII "Rosie the Riveters" who built them.

From Concept to Landmark: The Dome Hangar

The museum's story is one of perseverance. After years of hosting outdoor events at the airport, the organization finally secured a permanent home: the historic 1943 Fairchild Aircraft Flight Test Hangar, also known as the Dome Hangar. After a dedicated volunteer effort to restore the structure and a significant investment from the State of Maryland, the museum officially opened its doors to the public in December 2023. Today, the museum is continuing its mission with a Capital Campaign to fund expanded exhibit areas and an interactive Aviation Factory Experience.

  • Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Note: The museum is closed during major holidays, including New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.

Admission Information

  • Members: FREE

  • Adults (age 12 and up): $10.00

  • Seniors (age 55 and up): $8.00

  • Active Duty & Veterans: $8.00

  • Children (ages 3–11): $5.00

  • Children (under age 3): FREE

 Timber Valley Retreat 3-Day Weekend Review We had such a wonderful time staying at this cabin with our family! It was the perfect mix of comfort and peace, and we truly felt like we were at a home away from home. The cabins were stocked with just about everything you might need, which was a huge relief in case we forgot something. It made packing (and relaxing!) so much easier.  One of the best parts it’s pet friendly! We brought our two puppies along, and they had the best time exploring and relaxing with us. The hosts were amazing; very responsive, friendly, and welcoming. You can tell they truly care about their guests’ experience. We’re already planning to come back again, and hope to make this an annual family tradition, maybe even twice a year! Highly recommend!
